Here is a funny video. I like it because it takes the piss out of people who take themselves too seriously. It isn’t exactly about green building but it has that tree huger feel. As a tree huger myself I appreciate the self deprecating humor.
Also notice the guy charging money for hugs actually gets picked over the guy giving hugs for free. This says a lot for me. As green builders we are very idealistic about what we have to offer and think everyone should have it. But giving it away for free or way under market is less effective than putting a fair monetary value on the service.
Why? Because I find that if people pay for something they will usually attach more importance to it. This is key if you want them to take the service seriously. It makes them commit to the process more. It appears this applies to hugs as well.
